Tooth Powder Ingredients
We are serious about quality ingredients, and think you should know what you are putting in your mouth. Below you will find the ‘coles notes’ on each component we use. Need to know more? click the ‘learn more’ button to re-direct to more detailed info.
Things we don’t include in our products:
sodium laurel or laureth sulfate [a detergent/foaming agent] • triclosan • fluoride • propylene glycol
• artificial flavourings or fragrances • cosmetic grade ingredients [highly refined]
• dyes/colorants • alcohol • petroleum • solvents
Baking Soda - 100% pure, aluminum free
A base (vs. an acid) which provides alkalinity, raising the pH of the mouth and acting as an antibacterial agent. When pH is above 6, bad bacteria are inhibited thus less plaque and less attack on teeth.
Don’t worry, the hardness of baking soda is too low to impact the polish on enamel. Click the ‘learn more’ button below to see the table in an article on Relative Dentin Abrasivity (RDA) of pure baking soda vs. other commercial toothpastes:
Himalayan Pink Salt
A beautiful, mineral rich salt. Suitable for cooking and our Tooth Powder! A salty note, designed with purpose. Salt is antibacterial, and once combined with water it becomes ionic, attracting pollutants and taking them out of your mouth.
Calcium Carbonate
Mildly abrasive and aids in supporting healthy enamel.
Calcium Bentonite Clay
Naturally occurring from volcanic ash sediment. Gentle polisher rich in minerals such as silicon, magnesium, iron, sodium potassium. It holds a negative charge enabling it to attract toxins and stains, removing them from your mouth. Helps reduce acidity.
Diatomaceous Earth | Food grade
Naturally occurring soft rock that is rich in silica. It consists of fossilized remains of diatoms (aka tiny aquatic organisms). A mild abrasive to assist with cleaning the grime off your teeth.
Ceylon Cinnamon | organic
Also known as ‘true cinnamon’, not the kind you typically find in the grocery aisles, but rather at specialty spice boutiques. It has a slightly sweeter, less pungent taste. It has antimicrobial and astringent properties to help fight bad breath and aids with cleaning.
Licorice Root Powder
Used to help freshen the breath as well as a source of phytochemicals that aids in the removal of plaque and tarter from the teeth.
Peppermint Essential Oil
organic | fair trade
Steam distilled Japanese peppermint. Used for that fresh-mouth feel in addition to acting as an antibacterial component.
